Process and layout work
A complete-line scope begins with the material route and equipment duty. Layout work then coordinates discharge levels, operator positions, removable parts, utility connections and waste routes. For an extension, it concentrates on the new equipment’s boundaries with the existing plant. The equipment catalogue lists process design, three-dimensional layout and utility integration among its engineering services.
Installation and commissioning
The manufacturer’s catalogue includes equipment installation, pipe connections, coordinated commissioning, trial operation and handover. To turn that scope into site work, the equipment arrangement should identify foundations or support needs, access, utility availability, connecting pipework and the personnel responsible for each interface.
| Stage | Items to include in the project scope |
|---|---|
| Before shipment | Equipment list, configuration, connection drawings and agreed inspection records |
| Site readiness | Receiving access, equipment positions, utility availability and waste/drain connections |
| Commissioning | Checks of the installed connections, operating sequence and coordinated machine response |
| Product run | Agreed material, settings, measurements, sampling and acceptance responsibilities |
| Handover | Operating documents, cleaning instructions, service contacts and relevant spare-parts information |
Define what an equipment test demonstrates
Mechanical operation, a water run and a mango production trial answer different questions. An unloaded check can demonstrate movement and controls; it does not measure fruit recovery or the behaviour of viscous pulp. A product trial needs its fruit condition, feed quantity, collection periods and sampling points recorded.
Where factory or site acceptance testing forms part of the project, define the test conditions and criteria for that equipment scope. Product-process validation and package suitability also need their own competent review; they should not be inferred from a machine running during commissioning.
Prepare operators and maintenance staff for the actual configuration
The equipment catalogue lists operation and maintenance training, spare parts and technical support, and remote or on-site service in its engineering offering. For a mango line, the useful handover topics include screen removal and reassembly, reject handling, buffer and pump operation, thermal/filling sequences and cleaning circuits. Training duration, attendance, site visits and spare-parts supply should be stated in the selected service scope.
